Alex Fokin, M.D., is a board eligible, fellowship-trained, orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic and open treatment of conditions of the shoulder and knee.
Dr. Fokin earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University and obtained his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Dr. Fokin completed his internship and residency training in orthopaedic surgery at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was elected chief administrative orthopaedic resident and was responsible for management of multiple orthopaedic services. He served as an active member of the graduate medical education committee, resident leadership council and clinical competency committee. While at the University of Miami, Dr. Fokin worked as an assistant team physician for the Miami Hurricanes football team. Additionally, he worked with the Miami Marlins training staff during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He completed his fellowship training at Kaiser Permanente Sports Medicine in San Diego, where he worked as an assistant team physician for Southwestern College.
Dr. Fokin is the author of eight peer-reviewed publications and has presented at regional and national orthopaedic conferences. He is an active member of the Florida Orthopaedic Society, where he won first place in the Resident Research Competition and Symposia in 2015.
